Château de Rochechouart

Is a thirteenth century French castle, located at the top of the confluence of the Grêne and Vayre rivers in the commune of Rochechouart within the département of Haute-Vienne.

The views from the Chateau are amazing and well worth a visit; you can look down in the valley and see the holiday home "loiseau bleu" nestled by its self at the joining of the Grêne and Vayre rivers.

For over 800 years the viscounts of Rochechouart reined over the commune, In the main courtyard of the chateau one can admire the gallery supported by twisted columns and peer over the ramparts.

While inside one can visit the multicoloured frescos in the Hunting room or the Hercules room decorated with murals in grisaille from the mid-sixteenth century.

The Chateau de Rochechouart usually has various ART exhibitions running from contemporary to modern.
